I can’t help thinking about that song whenever I start thinking about my little verandah herb garden. Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme…

Herbs are great in the kitchen to add depth to your cooking flavours. To make the best of your herbs though, it’s best if they are close by the kitchen. My vegie patch is outside in the yard because thats where I have the space, but you really only need a fairly small amount of space to have a few herbs.

I grow all the herbs from the song as well as chives, coriander and basil. Most of my pots are leftovers that I’ve mixed up in a small sunny area on the verandah but they could be just outside the kitchen door or even in a window box. As long as they get some sun and water every day they’ll be happy, and so will you.
