Streaky star trails

Cohabitaire star trails long exposure photography astronomy

I’ve never really been one for reading into the stars (unless they’re by ‘Beardy from Hell’ in our local the Beast mag). I am, however, totally fascinated with astronomy and the endless galaxy beyond, and also reckon star trail photography is pretty darn rad.

I saw the above image featured on National Geographic and it made me wonder – how do they do it? [rss-cut]

Now, I could cut & paste from and create a big ‘how to’ but the truth is it would be plagiarism, and I’m not up for that. I will, however, recommend you check out instructions by Liquid in plastic, Robert Reeves and Digital Field Guide.

One tip worth mentioning is – to get the circular star streak effect, point your camera north. Glad we cleared that up.

Hope you enjoy this collection. Ingrid x
