Window farms are taking over New York City thanks to the innovative thinking of some indoor gardeners faced with growing plants in confined spaces. Hydroponics and reused bottles form the backbone of the ‘farm’, while a pump keeps water circulating around the system thereby using much less than your conventional garden.

[rss-cut]A standard window space has the potential to cultivate a salad per week. Ok, so it won’t save you from starvation but it is a nice way to breathe life into even the shoe-boxiest of apartments. If you’re powered by 100% green energy then you’re looking at a pretty sustainable set-up too.
