Ingrid’s MEGA morning shake

recipe, food, nutrition, shake, healthy, health

Time has not been my friend lately, leaving me with nothing left to blog – and I’m afraid it’s gonna get worse before it gets better my friends… all for good reasons, all which will be revealed in good time, but the side effects unfortunately mean my beloved Cohabitaire will be seeing a little less action for a couple of months.

But, as they say – difficulty is the mother of all invention – which is how I came about making these MEGA morning shakes.

I don’t know about you, but I get so overwhelmed with all the nutrition we’re supposed to fit into our daily feeds that I don’t know where to start. I can’t fit much in at the best of times, but I had a brain wave recently that if I blended stuff together – I could probably fit in more goodness, in less time.

So I pretty much got the ingredients of the breakfast cereal I was already having, added a few *superfoods* that I wouldn’t normally consider squeezing in and whizzed them all up in my trusty blender – and BAM!! MEGA. MORNING. SHAKE!

I’ve never been able to eat so much, so quickly, in my whole life – and feel amazing for it. My chinese herbalist LOVES this recipe – it’s full of alkalising, cleansing and blood enriching goodness – so consider this free nutritional advice :)

Blend these Ingredients:

1/2 cup rolled oats
2 tbsp stabilised wheatgerm
1 tbsp linseed
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 tbsp quinoa grains
1 tbsp lecithin
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1/2 tspn cinnamon
2 heaped tbsp – shredded coconut
1 tspn – organic super greens supplement (spirulina, wheatgrass, chlorella, barley)
1 tspn – liquid chlorophyll
1 tbsp molasses
1/3 cup pea protein powder
1/3 cup organic milk
1/3 cup organic rice milk
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
1/4 cup natural yoghurt
Coupla slices of tinned beetroot
A few mint leaves.

Phew!

It might not look like you’d actually save any time making this, which is true – UNLESS you mix up a few containers of the dry ingredients at the same time and just throw in the rest when you’re actually making each shake. Comprende?
