This morning I woke with a buzz in my brain that I can only put down to the incredible time had last night at the Future Sound of Yoga! It seems I’m a little late on the train on this one, for the FSOY has been going for quite some time now, but boy am I glad to have discovered an event that ticks three of my favourite boxes all at once… Yoga, live music, dance.

Also best described as a yoga rave. In a church.

For two hours I found myself moving in the moment, lost in my own breath and the beat of the music. Nothing else to do but be present – exactly what I needed post holiday, mid week and stuck in thoughts of the future. Funny how things work out exactly how they’re meant to.

Is it really yoga? Traditional practitioners might see it as a stretch but when it brings you closer to that free spirit within you, and it certainly covers the definition of yoga as the union of body, mind and breath - then I don’t see why not.

Since 2010, yoga teacher Angel Singmin and her DJ Husband Matt have been taking yogis on a sensory journey, bathed in atmospheric light and a palpable energy – the result of not only the music but the exhilaration of a group.

So. Much. Fun! Experience it to believe it… happening in Sydney every month, and touring more widely on these dates.
